The Las Vegas Hotel & Casino is located just on the Belizean side of the Belize-Mexico border. It is connected to the Santa Elena border crossing and a International Bridge by a new 4-lane boulevard, and Belize's Northern Highway to all points South, including Guatemala and the rest of Central America.
The city of Chetumal (capital of the state of Quintana Roo with 300,000 inhabitants) and its International airport, lie immediately across the border in Mexican territory. The Chetumal airport is served by flights from Mexico City, Cancun, and other cities. Major carriers provide a number of flights on a daily basis. Belize City and its International airport lie approximately 100 miles south of the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
Access from Mexico: Mexico's well maintained Route 180 connects the largest population centers in the region: Campeche, Merida, and Cancun. Route 370 runs along the coast of Quintana Roo, connecting Cancun, the Mayan Riviera and Chetumal. Route 186 connects Chetumal with Villahermosa and Veracruz.
The Phillip Goldson International Airport is the main port of entry into Belize. American Airlines, Continental and Grupo TACA are the main international carriers serving Belize City from Miami, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York and Central America. U.S. Airways initiated operations in 2002 and Delta has expressed interest in commencing flights to Belize. |
